What the EUR/USD chart tells you
EUR/USD, also written EURUSD or Euro Dollar, compares the euro with the US dollar. The euro is the base currency and the dollar is the quote currency. A higher exchange rate means one euro buys more dollars; a lower rate means it buys fewer.
Each candlestick shows the open, high, low and close for its interval. Its body shows the distance between open and close; its wicks show the extremes. Comparing these candles helps you distinguish a directional move from a sideways range.
Read EUR/USD price action with context
Start with the candle structure, then use momentum and moving averages to ask better questions about the move. An indicator is one part of an EUR/USD technical analysis, not a decision on its own.
Support & resistance
Look for recent swing lows and highs where price has changed direction. Repeated reactions can highlight a support or resistance area. A candle closing beyond that area gives different evidence from a wick briefly crossing it.
RSI & momentum
RSI(14) describes the strength of recent closing-price changes. Read it alongside the trend: strong momentum can persist, so an overbought or oversold reading alone does not establish a reversal.
Moving averages & trend
EMA(14), EMA(20) and EMA(50) help describe the direction of recent closes. Compare price with the averages and the slope of each. These indicators lag price, and a crossover can lose meaning in a sideways market.
Request a report for candle-based levels, RSI(14) and EMA(14/20/50) when enough completed candle history is available. Check the report timeframe before comparing it with another chart.
Analyze EUR/USDWhat moves the euro against the dollar?
EUR/USD reflects conditions on both sides of the pair. Interest-rate expectations, inflation and employment releases can change the outlook quickly; the response depends on what markets expected before the announcement.
ECB & Federal Reserve decisions
Follow European Central Bank policy and Federal Open Market Committee statements for changes in interest rates and the policy outlook. Compare euro-area and US expectations rather than reading either decision in isolation.
US inflation & employment
Consumer Price Index releases and the US employment report, including nonfarm payrolls, provide context for dollar moves. Revisions and the difference between expectations and the published result also matter.
London and New York session activity can change how the chart behaves. Forex trading pauses over the weekend, and broker hours can differ. Check release times and your broker’s spread before comparing a sharp move with an earlier, quieter period.
Check the last update before reading the setup
EUR/USD prices may be delayed. Check the last update time before reviewing the setup. Daily reference rates are historical comparisons, not executable bid or ask prices.
This guide explains how to read the pair; a current outlook appears only in a requested report. AI analysis can be wrong. Compare any conditional entry, stop loss and take-profit levels with your broker’s current quote, fees and spread.

Questions about the EUR/USD chart
What does the EUR/USD exchange rate mean?
EUR/USD is the number of US dollars needed to buy one euro. For example, an illustrative rate of 1.1000 means €1 equals $1.10. A rising EUR/USD chart means the euro is gaining value relative to the dollar; a falling chart means it is losing value relative to the dollar.
Is this a live EUR/USD chart?
The chart uses price snapshots and refreshes every 60 seconds while the page is visible and automatic refresh is enabled. Quotes may be delayed. Check the last update time shown with the chart. Daily reference rates are a separate historical view and are not live trading quotes.
Which EUR/USD chart timeframes can I view?
Choose 1-minute, 5-minute, 15-minute, 30-minute, 1-hour, or 4-hour candles with up to 1,000 observations, or Daily and Weekly candles over two to five years. Available history depends on the instrument; each indicator period counts candles in the selected interval.
How much is one pip in EUR/USD?
One standard EUR/USD pip is 0.0001. A move from 1.1000 to 1.1010 is ten pips; these are examples, not current prices. A fifth decimal place is a fractional pip. The cash value of a pip depends on position size and account currency.
How can I get an EUR/USD technical analysis report?
Sign in, open the chart and select Analyze Instrument to review its visible candle window. Scan This Chart captures the displayed chart for an image-based review. Each completed report uses one AI credit, with 3 free reports per day shared across analysis and scans. Review the evidence, timestamp and limitations alongside the outlook.
Why can EUR/USD analysis return Wait?
A report can return Wait when observations are stale, chart context is unverified or the setup does not pass the price checks. Entry, stop-loss and target prices are withheld in these cases. Indicator agreement alone does not establish a profitable trade.
